If I Had A Hammer

If I could learn a trade — say carpentry, electrical work, roofing, landscaping, plumbing, flooring, drywall — you name it — what skill(s) would I love to have in my back pocket?

That would be something to do with electrical work, plumbing and anything needed to survive a practical single life. I know how hard it is when the washing machine stops working and coughing gallons of water.Or when a pipe bursts and submerged the living room and kitchen in water in a matter of seconds (I’m talking out of experience) yesterday the boiler had stopped working and I can’t find the manual and all that I can read on the little window on its front is the word “error” flashing like crazy.  I wanted to call someone to take a look on it but I’m wary of strangers in the house especially when I’m alone. I rather sit in the living room bundled in layers of comforters watching TV than let someone I don’t know inside.

Yes, if I can learn a trade or two, that would be something practical to help me get around household crisis like the ones I’ve mentioned above…

    1. Yes, especially these days, you never know… better safe than sorry. The least one could have if one is half decent looking is some unnecessary come on from utility guys who think they are God given gift to woman kind, and it makes you kind of thinking how to turn them down easily without hurting their male over inflated ego and decided to bash your head in the process for revenge.

      1. Yes, I’ve been through those exact thoughts. That’s also the reason why I hate breaking down on the road and having strangers try to help me. Thank God for cell phones now.
