A sanctuary is a place you can escape to, to catch your breath and remember who you are.

From day one as far as I can remember when everything turns sour in the real world and it becomes too much to bear and my whole world threatening to cave in I always turn inwards.

There is a place in my head I always go to and find solace, away from daily tumult, away from the pain and suffering of mankind. This place is anything I want it to be, each time different; it is whatever suits my needs at the moment.

There I create perfect worlds, warm and inviting, beautiful and serene. Worlds where I can roam around without fear, without judgment, where everything is in perfect harmony. Without it, my sanity and I are long estranged from each other…

“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that’s all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure…”
